The Cordish Companies, the parent company of renowned gaming operator Live! Casino, has recently entered into a lucrative partnership with FanDuel. The daily fantasy sports provider cum sports betting operator is now the official betting partner of the two Live! Casino properties in Pennsylvania. Both gaming and hospitality facilities will go live sometime in 2020 and they will be based in Philadelphia and Westmoreland County.

As per the terms of the partnership deal, FanDuel is going to open its retail sportsbooks at both facilities. In Philadelphia’s stadium district, the gaming operator is currently in the process of constructing a $700 million casino. The Cordish Companies is also constructing a $150 million satellite casino in Westmoreland County just outside Pittsburgh. FanDuel will be bringing its expertise in the sports betting sector to both of these facilities.

Fortunately, the Keystone State’s sports betting market is not going to be too hard for FanDuel to handles since it is already operational in the state. It already operates sportsbooks for Valley Forge Casino Resort. In addition to that, it has amassed a ton of experience in the sector thanks to its operations in other states including West Virginia, New York, Iowa, New Jersey, and Mississippi.

“We are excited to partner with FanDuel to bring our customers the premier sports betting experience in the country, including unique promotions and sports engagement opportunities that will only be available at Live! properties,” the Cordish Principal Joseph Weinberg said.

Live! Casino and The Cordish Companies will not be the only ones benefiting though. FanDuel is looking to capitalize on the decades worth of experience that The Cordish Companies has in the gaming industry. This will allow the sports betting operator to extend its footprint to several destinations across the country.

Plans for Maryland

Among the destinations that FanDuel may soon venture into is the state of Maryland where The Cordish Companies is based. Unfortunately, despite the opportunity to pass sports betting laws being presented this year, very little progress, if any, has been made in that regard. For now, offering sports betting is illegal in the state but there is a lot of optimism that this might change in 2020. The state already has a thriving casino sector but the lack of sports wagering options is certainly not doing it any justice. This is especially because it is now surrounded by a number of states that have legalized sports betting.

That said, the Maryland Live! Casino is more than prepared to offer betting lines on sports as soon as the activity becomes legal in the state. FanDuel will be the sportsbook partner for the facility. They are also looking into online sports betting which will they will likely avail in states where online wagering is legal.
